Energy Crisis!

I awoke this morning thinking that today would be like any other day. But alas I was wrong, for today I was to stumble across an article that would change the way I think about water forever…and it was as follows:
http://www.theenigin.com/2010/08/17/water-energy/
The article is all about how water is a much under-rated source in terms of generating power, and it has had a powerful effect on me.
My panic started as I flushed the toilet (after looking at the above article I found myself searching the web to find out how much energy it costs to flush the toilet: turns out it’s a lot!) and continued as I washed my face and brushed my teeth. Especially when I brushed my teeth. Standing there, I realized for the first time perhaps EVER how much water I had wasted over the years, standing there brushing my teeth while the water disappeared never to be seen again (or at least until after it had been cleaned or whatever first). Water I would never get back to apologize to!
So, from that moment on I vowed not to flush the toilet as much and NOT to have the tap running when I brushed my teeth (I would suffer psychologically of course, because running the tap always puts me at ease mentally and for some reason makes me feel good about the day ahead, but that was the price I was willing to pay). I even vowed – this was only for a minute or so – to wash my face in the water that cascaded down the bowl when I flushed the toilet (the water that cascaded DOWN, not the water in the bowl. Come on now, I am not that disgusting). Then I came to my senses, of course. Because if you are going to save energy then it is best to do so while holding onto some dignity, if you can. Still, I suggest you read the article. It might change your outlook for the better.
